Weeks ago I was teaching at a n embroidery group in Tauranga. We painted landscapes and started to embroider them. Today I was invited to see the results of this class.
They had finished the embroideries and mounted them in frames or converted them into bags. It was nice to see how different the results were been.
I did not only corals in this technic. The nature here in New Zealand gives so many impressions – whether the fern in the forest, the hydrangeas in the parc or a simple weed in the garden. The motifs are everywhere!
From 2009 till now I sailed long times through the Pacific Ocean between Fiji, Vanuatu, the Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, Australia and New Zealand. It was very fascinating to snorkel and see all the underwater world.
Back in New Zealand in my studio I embroidered with the sewing machine a few of the corals onto water soluble Material. The corals are mounted in a special way. So you get the feeling of „floating in water“.They are framed in custom made frames.
The size varies between 25 cm x 25 cm and 90 cm x 90 cm. They are for sale.
